About What’s For English
Are you hungry for better and more fluent English? Have you opened that giant refrigerator of the internet but could not find anything to eat? Let me prepare some delicious food for thought!
This is a site for adult learners working in business, schools or universities, who want to read and listen to more English. I will prepare interesting content for intermediate learners – stories, news, facts and information that’s not too hard but not too easy. I will also point you to other good sites on the  web. Good food for hungry minds!
You have a job and cannot spend much time in English classes. Teachers tell you to go out and use your English, but it isn’t easy finding people to interact with.
In my blog, I write about my world: Tokyo, Japan, Asia, news, politics, English, technology, history, wine, food, photography, art, science, music, my family, my life. I find it interesting, and you might, too.
About Me
Since 1990, I have been living in Tokyo and working in the design and delivery of in-house training programs for large and medium-sized Japanese manufacturers. I have two masters degrees: an M.A. in Teaching English as a Foreign Language and an M.S. in Instructional and Performance Technology. Over the years I have trained executives, middle managers and new hires. The corporate programs that I develop are designed to close gaps in the performance of key individuals who rely on English to communicate with clients. Courses are customized and tailored to meet the goals and needs of individual learners and the organizations they work for. The materials that I design are based on real information provided by the students and their organizations so that actual products and processes, and real situations and problems form the basis for highly motivating classes. The learners are expected to be autonomous and play an active role in shaping the goals, activities and course content so that they have a true stake in the outcome of their learning.
In the Tokyo area, I can be hired to develop or consult on language training programs or to teach English language courses in businesses, government or non-governmental organizations, or universities.
What’s For English, Extend Your Listening or Wine in Easy English can serve as the basis for informative, serious yet entertaining language classes.
Would you like a program similar to these but customized and tailor-made to serve your company’s needs? I can develop an on-line solution to accessed from within your company’s server.
